Professor Gambari addresses Muslims at El-Thawara Mosque in El-Fashir

The Head of the African Union – United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), Joint Special Representative (JSR), Ibrahim Gambari, has called on Muslims to seize the opportunity of the Holy month of Ramadan to do good things, unite and working more for realizing peace in Darfur region.
Prof. Gambari spoke at El-thawrah’s Mosque, south El-Fashir, Friday , Within the Social contact Program which was carried out by the UNAMID during the holy month of Ramadan in the presence of the ambassadors of Djibouti , Rwanda, Guinea and Niger in Sudan, praising the efforts being made by the state government and its cooperation with UNAMID to realize peace in Darfur States.
He has confirmed the positive response of the citizens with the government and UNAMID programs aiming at realizing security and stability in Darfur region, stressing that the mission will work seriously to achieve peace in Darfur States.
The Head of the UNAMID has called on the holders of arms to join the peace process, saying the holding of the arms will not serve the issue of Darfur but will increase suffering of the people of Darfur .
Imam of El-Thawrah mosque, Judge Mahgoub Haroun, has spoken in Friday prayer , calling on the Muslims to seize the last ten day of the holy month of Ramadan in their prayers and supplication to Allah to realize peace in Darfur.
