Karti discusses with Norwegian Minister of Developmental Cooperation and Environment horizons of cooperation between two countries

The Foreign Minister, Ali Ahmed Karti, discussed Thursday at his office with the Norwegian Minister of Developmental Cooperation and Environment, Heikki Holmes, horizons of the cooperation between the two countries and ways of enhancing them further,
in the presence of the Ambassador of Norway to Khartoum.
The Foreign Minister has welcomed the new Norwegian Minister who assumed his new position and arrived the country coming from Juba, referring to the strong relations between Sudan and Norway in the political and economic issues related to realization of peace and stability in the region.
Karti has expressed the confidence of Sudan on the necessity of sustainable peace in the region in general and with South Sudan State in particular, noting that the government is also convinced about the importance of durable peace, for the sake of which it has signed the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and fulfilled its commitments, including the enabling of the people of South Sudan to practice self-determination through a referendum.
Karti has briefed the visiting Norwegian Minister on stance of Sudan towards a number of issues such as negotiations between Sudan and South Sudan in Addis Ababa and the humanitarian situation in South Kordofan State, besides the recent economic measures in the country.
He affirmed the keenness of Sudan to cooperate with the African Mediation, pointing to the obstacles facing the parties at negotiations in Addis Ababa.
He renewed the readiness of the government to cooperate with the international community to deliver food and humanitarian needs to the citizens wherever they are, stressing the importance of the international community’s support to addressin causes the of the problem.
The Norwegian minister has reiterated his country’s readiness and keenness to work with Sudan and South Sudan to realize peace and stability in the two countries, indicating that the endeavour of his country for convening an economic conference on Sudan is still existing.
