Khartoum to Supply 80 Buses for Students

Governor of Khartoum State, Dr. Abdel Rahman Al-Khidir has reiterated that the state will continue to implement package of social measures for employees, pensioners, students and community sectors in order to minimize consequences ensuing from recent economic measures.
Speaking to Radio Conference Show aired by Sudan Radio, Al-Khidir said that the state asked for increasing its share of sugar so that it is able to embark on supplying 50-kilos sugar packs in markets to meet the citizens’ actual needs.
He announced that sugar will be supplied through reduced price -sale points and cooperative societies five pounds for a kilo, stating that the state has already begun to implement providing goods for civil servants, pointing out efforts to support poor families materially and including them under the umbrella of Health Insurance as of July 31. The governor attributed increasing beef prices to increase of fodder prices.
The Governor said that white meats will be made available at sale points with 16 pounds for a kilo, adding that consumer protection law will be approved during next week to facilitate these measures. He hoped that families will head for the experiment of poultry production.
As for raising transportations fares in the state, Al-Khidir said that fuel prices increased by 15 per cent, then 25 percent and eventually 30 percent due to increase in spare parts prices. The governor affirmed that additional 80 busses will be supplied to transport the state’s students via five main routes and 56 stops across the state. Al-Khidir further renewed commitment to carrying out various services, developmental and productive programs in the coming period.
