Journalists Union to Award Women Pioneers in Journalism

Khartoum – The General Union of Sudanese Journalists during marking World Press Day on May 3 will honor 15 pioneer women journalists in glorifying and acknowledging their contribution to journalistic and media work throughout their careers under the auspices of the Ministry of Minerals.
The awarding of the journalists comes under the theme of “Sudanese women journalist, glorious past and a bright future”
The Minister of Minerals, Kamal Abdel Wahab is scheduled to address the event; besides Mr. Abdel Daafie Al-Khatib, the Undersecretary of Ministry of Information, and Dr. Muhayaddine Titawi, the President of General Union of Sudanese Journalists.  The Union will also organize ceremony for the families of journalists, including various programs and national songs.
The Union earlier formed a panel to pick best three works among contenders for photography and caricature competition. Journalists who will be honored at the event include: Takwe Sirkisyan, Thuraya Umbabe, Zaineb Al-Fateh Al-Badawi, Suaad Al-Fateh Al-Badawi, Fatma Ahmed Ibrahim, Amal Mina, Amna bint Wahab and Amal Abass and others.
